ARCHITECTURE & INTERIOR DESIGN

In 2020, architects Gilles Orso Berrino and Giulia Mondolfi, united by shared expertise, passion and sensitivity, began a collaboration focused on the creation of both interior and exterior design projects. Every home should reflect the personality of its owner.

Their aim is to offer a custom-made service based on a careful reading of the context and the client’s needs, while reinterpreting the character of each home and green space through a contemporary lens.

Great care and sensitivity are dedicated to preserving the historical essence of places, while also ensuring the highest levels of practicality and technological efficiency. The goal is to establish continuity between past and present, achieving a harmonious contrast between tradition and innovation: a perfect blend of aesthetics and functionality is born, where form becomes beautiful by being functional.

Meticulous attention is given to detail and to the selection of materials, colours and finishes. Over the years, the architects have built a strong network of skilled artisans and trusted contractors. They work with upholsterers, carpenters and craftspeople capable of executing projects ranging from the simplest to the most complex.

Thanks to their decade-long experience, they manage all phases of the construction process.

After studying at the Polytechnic University of Milan and the ETSAB in Barcelona, he graduated in Architecture.

He furthered his studies in scenography and stage space at the Institut del Teatre in Barcelona and in theater at the Scuola dell'Arsenale in Milan.

He worked with the architect Giovanni Muzio, with Studio&Partners and with the architect Michele De Lucchi, dealing with the design of cultural institutions, museums, offices and residential projects.

Since 2009 he has been working independently, dealing with building renovations, interior design and urban and architectural design competitions, in which he has received several awards.

From 2004 to 2014 he taught at the Polytechnic University of Milan as a research fellow in various design studios, developing research in the fields of architecture, urban planning and public space.

The hallmark of his work is the search for beauty, seen as the most economical and sustainable way to give shape to a project.

GIULIA MONDOLFI

Giulia Mondolfi, born in Florence in 1986, moved to Milan in 2005, eager to engage with a broader and more dynamic environment. There, she enrolled in the Faculty of Architecture at the Politecnico di Milano. During her years in Milan, her interests in design began to take shape; the preservation of the Italian landscape and green space design became her true passions.

In 2012, she graduated with top honours (110/110) with a thesis focused on the restoration and redevelopment of the park and buildings of the former psychiatric hospital (O.P.) of Maggiano, in the province of Lucca. This work led to several publications, including “Agricultural work as a therapeutic tool: Fregionaia, a forgotten excellence” in the journal of the Accademia dei Georgofili, and “A concrete opportunity for Fregionaia: between historical identity and future prospects” published by LUK – Licia and Carlo Ludovico Ragghianti Foundation.

From 2010 to 2016, she collaborated on the teaching of two design courses led by Professor Darko Pandakovic at the Politecnico di Milano. In 2013, she participated in the Barcelona Landscape Biennial with a project on the regeneration of abandoned urban spaces in the city of Sarzana.

Immediately after graduating, she spent two years in Rome working with architect Massimo De Vico Fallani on various landscape projects, including the restoration of the Garden of the Patriarchs, the Villa dei Quintili, and green interventions along the monumental-archaeological area of the Via Appia. She also contributed to the redevelopment of the courtyards of the San Michele Complex, now home to the Italian Ministry of Cultural Heritage. At the same time, she worked on landscape designs for industrial sites and the creation of a woodland park.

From 2015 to 2017, she collaborated with the Studio Pozzoli in Florence and garden designer Carlo Contesso on the creation of private gardens and parks.

Since January 2013, she has also contributed articles to various industry publications, including the Journal of Agricultural History of the Accademia dei Georgofili, Paysage, and Gardenia. For Gardenia, she contributed editorial content and, for several years, curated the column “Il mio balcone” ("My Balcony").

In January 2014, alongside her work as a landscape designer, she began designing the first prototypes of her interior design and exclusive clothing brand, Alberta Florence.

In 2016, Giulia was one of the under-35 creatives selected by photographers Max and Douglas for the Fondazione Exclusiva. In 2017, she received the Florence Design Award. From 2018 to 2021, she led a workshop on “Fashion and Literature” at Syracuse University.

During Milan Design Week 2018, Alberta Florence presented the atelier’s social project. At Milan Design Week 2019, Giulia launched the atelier’s interior design line with the project Dove sboccia la solidarietà (“Where Solidarity Blooms”), which was exhibited at the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele in the Savini space and at MUDEC – Museum of Cultures.

In 2022, she became Brand Ambassador for the auction house Wannenes, representing their Wannenes Properties division.
